Taurus 80, Torino, Italy, is setting up its first U.S.-based facility, Taurus Die Casting LLC, in Rockford, Illinois.
The zinc diecaster is hiring 37 full-time workers and will invest $6.4 million into a 44,000-sq.-ft. facility. Taurus 80 manufactures zinc parts for automotive safety belts and employs 268 people in its facilities in Italy and Tunisia.
According to the Rockford Register-Star, $500,000 in remodeling work has begun for the Taurus Die Casting LLC facility.
Per the report, Roberto Marselli, president and CEO of the Rockford company, visited the area last year to find the right spot for the U.S. expansion.
“Our customers, our suppliers are in the U.S., mostly in the Midwest. That’s where the growth is,” he told the Register-Star. “So this is where we needed to be. The labor force here is key.”
Marselli said the company hopes to have 75 employees there within five years.
